This review is for Malibu pier, some answers are about the Santa Monica pier, which does have rides. Malibu doesn't. There is no cost to go on the pier. I would recommend street parking if you can get it as it is costly to park next to the pier. Malibu Farms is on the pier, a little pricey but decent food. Escobar's is a great Mexican restaurant right across the street, excellent food.

There is a parking lot that fills up fast next to the pier, and the parking ranges from 10 to 20 dollars. There is also one across PCH next to the Malibu Inn/Casa Escobar. Parking along PCH is free but hard to find.

There is a commercial parking lot nearby. If you are at the right place at the right time, you may be able to find on-street parking along the Pacific Coast Highway near the pier.
