As always, the WGA Awards left off many screenplay Oscar frontrunners due to eligibility, giving certain nominees a needed spotlight to secure a nomination, and even win the Academy Award.

Additional movies nominated for best original screenplay include 'A Real Pain,' 'Anora' and 'Civil War,' with 'Hit Man,' 'Nickel Boys' and 'Wicked' rounding out the adapted screenplay field.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has unveiled its nominees for the 2025 WGA Awards, highlighting a mix of familiar Oscar frontrunners, unexpected entries, and the creative reshuffling prompted by ineligible contenders.
