A report of an active shooter at the University of South Carolina’s campus library Sunday was part of a swatting hoax, a school spokesperson said.

University of South Carolina students were told to shelter in place Sunday after an unconfirmed report of an active shooter on the main campus.

False reports of active shooters were made at universities across the country in the days leading up to the report at the University of Arkansas.
