San Francisco quarterback Mac Jones explained his decision to give Adrian Martinez the final snap in the 49ers' win Sunday over the New York Giants.
Martinez's services on the 49ers' active roster are no longer needed as Mac Jones will revert to a backup role for Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to the return of Brock Purdy (toe). Martinez could be brought back by San Francisco on the practice squad, assuming he clears waivers.
With the game wrapped up and San Francisco’s offense in victory formation, Jones came out of the game for backup quarterback Adrian Martinez, who took a knee and closed things out. In turn, it was also Martinez's first snap of his NFL career.
Mac Jones delivered another strong performance for the 49ers, but his final move of the game showed his true character.
