The ho-hum weeks on the college football schedule are supposed to deliver surprises, but Week 3 failed to accomplish that mission. The top 19 teams in the AP Top 25 poll won in Week 3, while only two in the top 25 lost -- and both did so on the road against higher-ranked opponents.

One-loss Notre Dame could still make the playoff, but the margin for error is razor thin especially with a schedule that provides precious little help.
