Dubbed "LLM Siri" by Apple employees (LLM standing for large language model), the new Siri is already being tested internally on iPhones, iPads, and Macs as a standalone app. But if all goes well, the new assistant will eventually replace the Siri we all know and have a hard time loving.

Apple appears to be ramping up its Siri efforts to secure a spot as a key player in the AI arms race. The company is reportedly working on a more conversational version of its voice assistant Siri that'll be powered by advanced large language models,

According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, LLM Siri will fundamentally alter the voice assistant's capabilities. Apple hopes to create a version of Siri that operates more like the voice modes of ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
