At least nine people have been killed after a bridge over a river collapsed in India’s western Gujarat state, according to news agency Press Trust of India.

The police stated that nine bodies have been recovered so far, and nine-10 people were rescued. They also expect that the death toll could rise as the rescue and search operations continue.

At least nine people have died and several others were wounded on Wednesday after multiple vehicles fell into the Mahisagar River when a portion of the Gambhira Bridge caved in. Locals allege the bridge ‘shook’ when vehicles passed through it.
