Pet food company Viva Raw issued a voluntary recall on Wednesday after discovering that some of its products are contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in both animals and people,

The bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in pets that have consumed contaminated products. People can also be exposed through handling contaminated products, touching surfaces that have been in contact with the products, or having contact with pets that ate the contaminated products.
