India contemplated forfeiting an inning during the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh due to weather disruptions. Ravichandran Ashwin shared that the team ultimately decided against it due to extreme conditions.

Had it not been for the administrative gaffe in the Caribbean last year, Ashwin might have broken Muttiah Muralitharan’s record for most ‘Player of the Series’ awards in Test cricket in Kanpur earlier this week.

India's decorated off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin revealed that they considered forfeiting an inning after rain and a wet outfield took away more than two days of play in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur.

A huge blunder by the administrators has emerged as the reason for Ravichandran Ashwin not holding a massive world record. The 38-year-old won the Man of the Series (MOTS) award during the India-Bangladesh series after scoring 114 runs and taking 11 wickets.

Ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin clinched his 11th Player of the Series award as India defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the home Test series. With this, the veteran cricketer equalled the Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan’s world record of most Player of the Series awards.

Ravichandran Ashwin would have created a new world record but due to an official gaffe during India's away Test series against West Indies in 2023, will have to continue waiting.
