LG TV owners are discovering Microsoft Copilot on their home screens following a software update. The AI assistant installs automatically and cannot be removed, highlighting how AI features are increasingly becoming permanent parts of smart TV platforms.
Microsoft Copilot is now part of LG's webOS interface for TVs and can't be removed. 'Live Plus' is also enabled, which records everything you watch.
As with Sony and a few other rival brands, the Korean firm seems to be betting at least a part of the farm on Micro RGB for future TV models. The company has confirmed that it will unveil its first ever flagship Micro RGB TV in Las Vegas, which, it says, marks a "significant step forward from MiniLED".
The latest example of the technology’s proliferation being forced down users’ throats, likely in the name of artificially inflating growth metrics, appears to be LG brand smart TVs. Tom’s Hardware spotted a number of owners taking to Reddit to complain about the fact that their TVs now have an apparently unremovable Microsoft Copilot app living on their homescreen.

With its latest webOS update, LG has begun automatically installing the Microsoft Copilot AI app on its smart TVs. The change was first spotted by a Reddit user, who noticed the app suddenly appear in their TV's app drawer after a software update. Making matters worse, the app can't be uninstalled.
