Guernsey Mind said the opportunity to have a place in the London marathon, taking place on 26 April 2026, ensured all funds raised by the designated runner would directly benefit the organisation. Jo Cottel, chief executive of Guernsey Mind, said the charity decided to enter the charity ballot with the hope that it might get a place.

Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia secured her first London Marathon title Sunday after pulling away from Joyciline Jepkosgei near the end. Assefa finished in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 50 seconds,

Assefa finished the race, with no male runners on the course, in 2:15:50, pulling away from Kenya’s Joyciline Jepkosgei.
