Linda Noskova gave herself a huge boost ahead of the U.S. Open as she claimed her first WTA tour title with a 7-6(6) 6-4 victory over Lulu Sun in the final of the Monterrey Open on Saturday.

Sixth-seeded Linda Noskova won the Monterrey Open on Saturday night for her first WTA Tour title, beating Lulu Sun 7-6 (6) 6-4 at Sonoma Club.

Lulu Sun continued to shine as she edged third seed Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-5 3-6 7-6(6) on Friday and will meet Linda Noskova in the Monterrey Open final after the Czech pulled off an upset of her own to defeat American Emma Navarro.

Sixth-seeded Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic beat second-seeded Emma Navarro of the United States 7-6 (7), 7-5 to reach the Monterrey Open final, where she will face Lulu Sun of New Zealand.
