HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans open the 2025 NFL regular season at the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 7 at SoFi Stadium. There aren't many surprises with the Texans' roster with many roles being set coming into camp, but the biggest challenge this offseason has always revolved around the starting lineups on the offensive line.

Heading into this game, quarterback Kyle Allen had a firm lead for the backup job ahead of Hendon Hooker. Allen did well in the quarter he played, going five-for-five for 66 yards and a beautiful touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa.

Graham Mertz never got to throw a pass to Quintez Cephus in a Wisconsin Badgers regular season game, but the two are taking advantage of their college connection in the pros.

Jackson's 4-yard touchdown reception from third-string quarterback Kedon Slovis should be the nail in the coffin as the Houston Texans expand their lead to 23-7. Here's a video of the play, courtesy of the team's official social media account:

The Texans have much less depth now, with a reliable but limited upside Christian Kirk as their No. 2 and a solid tight end in Dalton Schultz. They also have rookie Jayden Higgins as their No. 3 option in the passing game.

As the roster cuts loom, a CBS Sports writer is predicting the Houston Texans could land Minnesota Vikings running back Ty Chandler via trade.

That being said, Houston's offensive line is still viewed as a major area of weakness for the team heading into 2025, as evidenced by the fact that quarterback C.J. Stroud was sacked 52 times in 2024. That certainly played a significant role in his sophomore slump.

The Houston Texans are busy preparing for the opening game of the NFL season on Sept. 7. The preseason is all about ensuring a team is ready to fire on all cylinders to begin the new season, and a big part of that is making sure the vibes are right.
