Those in charge of Pope Francis’ stay in Singapore say St. Francis Xavier Retreat Centre was chosen because it is simple. The place was also easy for the 87-year-old to move around. There was very little renovation involved and even furniture was loaned from the community.

Some may find comfort of home in a tub of gelato — and it appears Pope Francis isn't too different. To welcome the 87-year-old pontiff, a fridge in his residence in Singapore was stocked with the icy treats.
