The Colts named Daniel Jones as the starting quarterback over Anthony Richardson for their regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 7, the team announced on Tuesday.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson's preseason is over. Head coach Shane Steichen told reporters Thursday that Richardson will not play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Cincinnati Bengals after he lost the quarterback race to Daniel Jones.

Daniel Jones is an NFL starter once again. Jones won the Indianapolis Colts ’ quarterback job over Anthony Richardson, head coach Shane Steichen announced Tuesday. “He’s our starting quarterback for the season,” Steichen said. “I don’t want to have a quick leash on that. I feel confident in his abilities.”
