Some 27 people, including nine children, have been confirmed dead after flash floods in central Texas, authorities said today, as rescuers continued a frantic search for survivors including dozens still missing from a girls’ summer camp.

Authorities said at least 24 people have died in flooding around Kerr County, Texas, and officials are still performing water rescues.

One of those killed in the Texas floods was Renee Smajstrla, 8, who was attending Camp Mystic, according to her uncle. Authorities say at least 24 people have died.
