Google is rolling out a new line of defense to protect Android users and certified devices. As reported by Bleeping Computer, a new program called Developer Verification will help block malware installations from sideloaded apps that have been downloaded from outside of the official Google Play store.

Sideloading apps also run the risk of installing malware or viruses that can once again, steal login credentials, spy on you, and more. So, if you do enjoy sideloading apps on your Android phone, best to start stocking up now before it becomes a hassle.

Google compares the move to an ID check at the airport, and says it's aimed at tackling harmful apps. It launches next year, but you can request early access now.
