The prescribed burn in the prairie and woodland areas at Homestead National Historical Park will help reduce wildfire risk and boost biodiversity.
"One of the things that I love about history is that it happened. You can go to where the declaration was signed and that just fascinates me," Tanner Christy said.
The fire will put nutrients back into the ground, and that’s what the prairie needs to be really healthy," Superintendent Susan Cook said of the prescribed burn.
