WASHINGTON (AP) — Here is the text of the eulogy President Joe Biden delivered Thursday during the state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter in Washington. Leaders of the clergy, distinguished guests and most importantly the Carter family.

Stu Eizenstat, the former chief White House domestic policy adviser to Carter, remembered Jimmy Carter at his funeral. Jimmy Carter died in December at age 100. He was the 39th president of the United States.

"I've let my wife be the ultimate judge on what should be done," Carter said in 1995 of his funeral plans. Carter, who returned to his hometown of Plains, Georgia, after his term as president ended, was active in his local community, and taught Sunday School at Maranatha Baptist Church.
