Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly backed his government's contentious 2019 decision to revoke the partial autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir, days after the territory's newly elected lawmakers sought its restoration.

Indian-controlled Kashmir's regional legislature has passed a resolution demanding the federal government restore the disputed region's semi-autonomy.

The assembly then had to be adjourned due to the uproar from the opposition benches, with BJP members storming the well of the house

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday criticised the Congress-National Conference alliance after the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution calling for the restoration of the special status the erstwhile state had under Article 370 of the Constitution. The Assembly had passed the resolution on Wednesday.
