If you want a gaming PC that can run games up to 60fps with ray-tracing turned on, the Steam Machine might not be for you. In fact, some reviewers were struggling to get 60fps in newer games, even on medium graphics settings with ray-tracing turned off.
Valve says rising RAM and storage costs made its original Steam Machine pricing goal impossible, while also limiting launch availability
That $1049 is just the starting price, getting you just the 512GB version of the mini gaming PC without the Steam Controller. If you do want to add the Steam Controller, there is a bundle for $1128, which means you're getting Valve's controller for $79, rather than the $99 it'll cost you by itself.
Damn, okay. The Steam Machine is expensive . Over $1000 for just the base model, and even more if you want more storage or a Steam controller. And if that price has your eyes popping out of your head, cartoon-style, you can blame the current RAM crisis brought about by the AI rush, without which it probably would have been about $250 cheaper.
