Collin Klein has added another assistant coach to his inaugural football staff at Kansas State. The new hire has history in the Big 12. Cory Patterson, who spent the past season working at Oklahoma State, will coach running backs for the Wildcats. Before his time with the Cowboys he previously worked at Illinois and Purdue.

K-State announced the hiring of Cory Patterson as its next running backs coach. Patterson was the running backs coach at Oklahoma State in 2025, and he's also served as a wide receivers coach at Purdue (2023-24), and as a tight ends coach at Illinois from 2018-20 and a running backs coach from 2021-22.

A day after Chris Klieman announced his retirement, a Kansas State assistant posted on social media that he's been let go by the school.
