One of the lawsuits represents the families of Anna Margaret Bellows, Lila Bonne, Chloe Childress, Molly Dewitt, Katherine Ferruzzo, Lainey Landry, and Blakely McCrory. The other represents the family of Ellen Elizabeth Getten. Both lawsuits are seeking damages of more than $1 million.

The lawsuits allege that the deaths of 25 campers and two counselors in a Central Texas flood on July 4 could have been prevented.

Questions abound about who qualifies and whether enough funds are available.
