An American Airlines flight on its way to Florida Tuesday afternoon had to turn back around to Charlotte not long after takeoff.

American Airlines is settling a lawsuit with the family of a Charlotte teenager who was secretly recorded in the bathroom while on a flight to Boston.

Authorities say now-former AA flight attendant Estes Thompson III tried to record the Charlotte teenager in the lavatory on a flight to Boston in 2023. The victim found one of Thompson's cell phones taped to the inside of the toilet lid.

Flight 859, which was on its way to Nassau, landed safely at Charlotte Douglas International Airport after returning.
