More than a day after it was revealed Mayor Brandon Johnson’s former communications director was terminated amid allegations of sexual harassment, misogyny, racism and other abusive behavior, the mayor said Wednesday evening his administration does not tolerate such behavior but shed no other light on the scandal.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor Brandon Johnson decided not to attend the funeral for fallen Chicago Police Officer Enrique Martinez on Monday after a back-and-forth with Martinez's family— who had asked him not to attend.

Mayor Brandon Johnson’s former communications director, Ronnie Reese, was accused of sexual harassment, misogyny, racism and other abusive behavior before he was terminated late last month, according to three internal complaints City Hall staffers filed against him.

Three complaints were filed against Ronnie Reese in the year leading up to his termination, according to city personnel records, including one from a female staffer in the mayor’s press office who claimed Reese made her “severely uncomfortable.

The documents reveal four complaints against Ronnie Reese between May 2023 and July 2024—all made anonymously for fear of retaliation.
