In a social media post, Tampa International Airport said, “Well, folks, we’re potentially one of the 40 airports that could face FAA-mandated flight reductions due to the federal government shutdown. We’ve heard that up to 10% of our 600 daily flights could be affected, though we don’t yet have confirmed details.

Starting Friday, the FAA announced air traffic will be reduced by 10% at 40 major markets if the government shutdown drags on.

Members of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association handed out leaflets at airports across the country, including at Tampa International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. They are alerting travelers to the concerns for aviation if this shutdown continues, while asking for their help.
