The tree selection, held Oct. 28, marked the 16th time a White House Christmas tree has been selected from North Carolina, and the first time the Cartner family farm in Avery County has been chosen.

It would be the 16th time a North Carolina farmer provided the White House with its official Christmas tree. “We’re proud to be part of this tradition,” Sam Cartner said.

White House staff traveled to Cartner’s Christmas Tree Farm in Newland, Avery County, on Monday to select the 20-foot-tall Fraser fir that will decorate the Blue Room.
