It was a sight not uncommon for a high school basketball game: Hanover Area cheerleaders making their way onto the court to open the pregame festivities before the two teams begin their warmups.

Nearly 40 years ago, a local group of cheerleaders went toe to toe with the best in the world, and emerged as champions — two years in a row.
