Rain may bring relief to crews battling fires in Los Angeles, but the scorched earth left behind poses a new hazard for residents.

A Los Angeles Fire Department vehicle was swept into the Pacific Ocean during a storm in Malibu on Thursday. Officials said road conditions were especially dangerous in areas affected by the wildfires last month.

The storm prompted evacuation orders, as officials warned of flash floods in burn-scarred areas near the Eaton and Palisades fires and cautioned drivers to stay off the roads.
