Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is expected to provide an update on the search and rescue efforts in Central Texas after deadly flooding swept across the area on Friday.

Texas officials reported that at least 25 people have died and 237 people were rescued Friday following major flooding in Central Texas.

W hile better-known Democrats are jockeying to see who might run for governor in 2026 against Gov. Greg Abbott, a farmer in Northeast Texas is already jumping into the race, saying the party needs an outsider to win the contest.
