Lebanon said an Israeli air strike on the heart of its capital that brought down a residential building and jolted residents across the city on Saturday killed at least 11 people. The attack in Beirut was followed by others in the city's southern suburbs after calls by the Israeli military to evacuate the area.

The wide-scale bombardment continued a day after a U.S. envoy held talks with Israeli officials on a possible cease-fire with Hezbollah militants.

The United Nations says four Italian soldiers were injured today when rockets struck a peacekeeping base in southern Lebanon. The U-N believes Hezbollah or another militant group likely fired the rockets - and said there is "significant" damage.
