As the Hill Country reels from the devastating floods that surged through Kerr County on the Fourth of July, the names of those lost are beginning to emerge. Friday's flood prompted a disaster declaration and a wide-scale emergency response.

The region is also known as “Flash Flood Alley,” because of its propensity for high levels of rainfall and the runoff on thin soil.

First responders conduct rescue operations in and around Kerr County after massive overnight rainfall led to flash flooding along the Guadalupe River.

A flash flood in the Texas Hill Country on the Fourth of July killed more than two dozen people and left dozens more missing, including 27 people at an all-girls summer camp along the Guadalupe River.
