A bystander was shot during a chaotic 400-car Charlotte street takeover last weekend, police announced on Wednesday. The takeovers reportedly happened between Friday, March 7, and the early morning hours of Sunday,

Boston Police said a crowd blocked the road and jostled police cruisers as officers tried to respond to a late-night "street takeover" event.

An innocent bystander was shot during one of many illegal street takeovers in Charlotte last weekend, according to police.

Numerous people in several Charlotte area neighborhoods said they were terrified when groups of people reportedly took over nearly a half dozen intersections last weekend. Investigators with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said at least 100 cars started street racing before the crowd began lighting off fireworks and gunshots were fired.
