Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe was removed from the starting lineup Sunday night for the finale of a critical four-game series against the rival Boston Red Sox. Volpe is mired in a 1-for-28 slump and leads the majors with 17 errors.

There was the familiar so-close-so-far frustration of Thursday night, where the Yankees were their own worst enemy—making multiple foolish errors to give Boston all the extra chances they needed to win.

The Boston Red Sox might not ever want to leave Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. after this weekend, but unfortunately for the visitors, Sunday, Aug. 24 marks the end to the four-game series between the New York Yankees and the Red Sox.
