Colorado right-hander Germán Márquez struck out a season-high eight and Hunter Goodman scored on a two-out wild pitch in the eighth inning to lift the Rockies to a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.

Chase Burns (0-1) started and pitched six innings for the Reds. He totaled 10 strikeouts and 95 pitches, including 63 strikes, against 25 batters. Jordan Beck started in left field and batted cleanup in the Rockies' lineup. He went 0-for-3 against Burns and was struck out twice.

Germán Márquez had another strong outing and Ryan McMahon hit his 13th home run of the season as the Colorado Rockies edged the Cincinnati Reds, 3-2 in the opener of a three-game series on Friday night.
