Kennedy Jr. is under federal investigation for an incident involving a dead whale that dates back two decades. The National Marine Fisheries Service confirmed the probe, which follows allegations that Kennedy cut off the head of a deceased whale and transported it home.

Katherine Silverstein, a spokesperson for NOAA, told the Times that the federal agency typically does not comment on open investigations.

While campaigning for Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said the investigation was "the weaponization of our government against political opponents," The Guardian reported.

The National Marine Fisheries Service is investigating claim that RFK Jr. cut off the head of a dead whale and took it home two decades ago.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirmed on Monday it is investigating RFK Jr. to find out if he decapitated a dead whale twenty years ago.

"I received a letter from the National Marine Fisheries Institute saying that they were investigating me for collecting a whale specimen 20 years ago," he stated at the event.

In the interview, Kennedy's daughter recalls her father using a chainsaw to cut off the head of a dead whale carcass on the beach near their Cape Cod family home and driving the whale's head back to New York.
