Roman Catholic faithful have begun visiting the tomb of Pope Francis. Starting early Sunday they began filing past the simple white tomb in St. Mary Major Basilica.

The Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome opened its doors to the faithful on Sunday to allow visitors to pay their respects at the tomb of the late pope Francis, one day after he was laid to rest. Hundreds of believers queued early on Sunday morning in front of the church before it opened at 7 am (0500 GMT).
