Eighty‑four lives were lost on 18 January 1977. Ordinary people on an ordinary morning when the Granville Train Disaster changed everything. Today marks forty‑nine years since that tragic day, still remembered as Australia’s worst rail accident and still deeply felt by survivors, first responders, and loved ones. The bells at Granville Town Hall rang today in their honour, and roses were laid at the Bridge in quiet remembrance. Granville will never forget. May they rest in peace. @mayor_ola_hame
