On this date 12 years ago, October 1, 2012, The Smithereens closed the legendary Kenny’s Castaways at 157 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village NYC! Willie Nile kicked off the festivities. The owner, Pat Kenny, was an early supporter of The Smithereens and for years, the band played Kennys several times a week, three sets a night. There was even a mural of the band on the wall!
