This is Kā Laupāhoehoe Makahiki 2023! Makahiki, a revered seasonal tradition, acknowledges the shifts in weather, celestial patterns, and natural cycles. Historically, it symbolized a time of agricultural plenty, where communities convened to plan for the future and fulfill fiscal obligations. It also provided opportunities for personal growth through spiritual reflection, physical activity, and mental engagement. Makahiki facilitated a comprehensive assessment of community assets and resources.

It’s still Makahiki Season Hū isn’t just play 🌿 Through hū, our keiki learn movement, patience, rhythm, and joy. Even something as simple as spinning a kukui top teaches them to observe, wait, and try again. This is how learning begins — through play, connection, and presence. #hawaiian | Leinaala Tolentino

ʻŌʻōe - Traditional Hawaiian instrument🎶 🥰The ʻŌʻōe, also known as the Hawaiian Bull Roarer, is a rare ancient instrument once played during the sacred Makahiki festival honoring Lono, the god of peace and harvest. Crafted from coconut shells or kamani seeds and swung through the air on a long cord, it produces a deep humming sound that echoes through the wind like a voice of the islands. 🌬️✨ 📽️: @eakawika #hawaii #100Hawaii #travelhawaii #travel #adventures #hawaiianstyle #hawaiianvibes #ha
